Are thermogenics worth it?
Thermogenics are one of the most widely used “supplements” today. The advertising surrounding these products goes overboard and, as we know, promises miraculous results from thermogenics…
Personal opinion
Now for a personal account, along with some research I’ve gathered and will share with you. I’ve used a few thermogenics… a few? No… many… and honestly, I didn’t see any results—not as a stimulant (apart from tachycardia… which isn’t a good sign…) and certainly not as a weight-loss aid.
Thermogenics are caffeine
Let’s look at the facts: The basis of thermogenics is… caffeine. At most, some have green tea extract added… and you pay an absurd price for it.
Other substances
But what about the “rest” of the substances? That’s where the problem lies… Most North American supplement companies provide only the qualitative description of the patented “blend” (whose formula is “protected” by law), concealing the dosage of each active ingredient…
There’s no way to measure how effective these products are. But… what accounts and research reveal are cases of severe depression, thyroid changes, panic disorder, and other psychiatric disorders caused by the abuse of thermogenics. What about you? Have you used or do you use thermogenics? Nutritionists and other professionals in the field, share your opinions too!
Getting the most out of your workout with thermogenics
Thermogenesis is simply the production of heat, and a thermogenic supplement speeds up metabolic functions.
Thermogenic supplements contain active ingredients that trigger these metabolic functions. They’re also often combined with secondary ingredients to help you achieve your goals and feel more motivated to train.

Since thermogenic supplements contain natural stimulants such as caffeine, it’s best to start with the lowest recommended dose when you begin using them. This will allow you to assess your sensitivity and adjust accordingly. Taking one 30–60 minutes before exercise may help you work harder and longer, and may also help you burn more calories.
You should never take more than the recommended daily dose, nor should you take a thermogenic supplement before going to bed. Its stimulating effects can make it difficult to fall asleep and can also disrupt sleep quality.
A little extra energy and a boost to your metabolism can go a long way. When used as directed and alongside a healthy exercise and diet program, thermogenic supplements can be a great tool in your arsenal and may help support your weight-loss efforts.
Living well starts with discovering what’s right for your unique needs.
