Treadmill or bike to warm up?
Treadmill or bike? Which is better for warming up?
🙅Before exercising a specific muscle group, warm up by doing a set of 12–15 repetitions on the machine itself (or performing the exercise), using a smaller range of motion and lighter weights (compared with what you normally use…). This is the best way to prevent injuries.✅
There are two types of stretching: static and dynamic. With dynamic stretching, or a dynamic warm-up, you “stretch your muscles while moving,” performing a specific exercise based on the muscle group you’ll be working that day, using a light weight and many repetitions to warm up the muscle.
Static stretching
Static stretching is the traditional type of stretching everyone knows, where you “stretch” your muscles and hold the position for a few seconds.
Recent studies have shown that doing static stretches such as cycling BEFORE lifting weights can lead to LESS strength during your workout, as it may negatively affect muscle-tendon stiffness and the neuromuscular reflex.
Dynamic stretching
So, to warm up before your workout, do dynamic stretches.
Treadmill or bike for warming up
If you have knee, hip, or ankle joint problems, such as bursitis or arthritis, riding a stationary bike lets you exercise your heart and lungs without putting additional stress on weak or injured joints.
A bike is an excellent cardio workout that doesn’t stress the weight-bearing joints.
In addition, a bike provides exercise for people with balance problems, which can occur in older adults or those who have been inactive for a period of time.
Recumbent bikes provide a larger, wider seat and back support, making them a good choice if you have back pain or don’t feel comfortable on an upright bike seat.
Bikes and treadmills are just two of the many options for a great cardio workout at the gym. The best piece of equipment to use depends on your workout goals.
