How to build up thin calves
💥Genetics can make it harder …BUT NEVER STOP YOU FROM ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS! Genetics determine the beginning…but not the end of your journey… You can improve a lot with proper training!
It has been scientifically proven that daily habits and stimuli can change the way our genes are expressed, causing these changes to be passed on to future generations.
When it comes to hypertrophy, genetics does play a role, since it determines muscle fiber size and hormone release, but these factors can also be changed by our daily habits.
As for CALVES, let’s talk about one of the most controversial and neglected muscle groups at the gym…
Tips for building bigger legs
1️⃣Use the greatest range of motion you can during the exercise.
2️⃣Question: Should you train calves seated or standing? Answer: Both. Both the soleus and the gastrocnemius need to be worked properly to build strong legs, so you need to do calf raises with both straight and bent knees.
3️⃣Train with intensity!! Forget the myth of doing lots of reps with light weights.
4️⃣Control the movement during both the eccentric and concentric phases! Movement speed is an important variable in ALL EXERCISES, and this applies to calf training too, of course.
One calf is thinner than the other: what should you do?
Some people are born with one leg longer than the other. In other cases, an injury or illness can cause a difference in leg length that develops over time.
This is not necessarily something to worry about, since small differences are normal and probably won’t cause health problems.
The key to correcting body asymmetry is training focused on hypertrophy.
Muscle hypertrophy can be achieved with a good strength-training routine at the gym! But you need a routine and consistency! Shortcuts in strength training are important for achieving this faster.
Value movement tempo in your training split as a more important variable than simply increasing the “weight,” since indiscriminately increasing the load can affect your range of motion and compromise proper exercise form, and in extreme cases can cause unwanted injuries.
