Basic gym with no personal trainer: what should you do?
I receive many requests for coaching, and several clients say their gyms don’t have many machines. Others sometimes work out in their apartment building’s gym, which obviously doesn’t have many machines either.
You don’t need state-of-the-art equipment or a gym with a $500 monthly membership to reach your goals. You need the basics! What are the basics? Free weights, barbells, good guidance on how to perform your exercises, and most importantly… NO OUTLANDISH GIMMICKS!
Trendy exercises
Social media promotes a series of crazy exercises every day—I might even call them circus acts… side-lying leg presses, cable “kicks,” squats on the hip abductor and adductor machines…etc. They make a big impression on followers, mainly because the people doing them have… let’s say, attractive bodies. But I GUARANTEE you, they didn’t get that physique by squatting on the adductor machine… yes, folks:
It’s all marketing… these exercises are ridiculous and sometimes dangerous. Don’t follow fads.
Wrong is still wrong even when everyone is doing it, and right is still right even when no one is doing it.
And for those of you who stick to the basics and effective exercises, here are a few tips: always check the condition of the equipment you plan to use. Check everything: cable integrity, how securely the machines are fastened, and the condition of the floor.
Safety locks
When using the leg press or Smith machine, check and use the safety locks!
Pay attention to your shoes
Even your shoes… for example, avoid wearing very unstable sneakers when doing a barbell squat…
That’s it.
Is it worth working out with a personal trainer?
One of the major benefits of hiring a personal trainer is that they can monitor your exercises. With online professionals, you can get this benefit anytime, anywhere, since you can follow your planned workout without having to schedule an appointment.
Through the app, website, or WhatsApp, you can access a specialist who is available to help you reach your goals.
Just fill in some basic information, such as your exercise goals and personal measurements, and the trainer will provide a personalized training plan and tips on how to follow it.

An online coaching program is a good option. Online coaching.
Coaching with an online personal trainer works just like in-person coaching. You fill out a form with various required details, such as your training history, daily habits, lifestyle, any physical limitations, and other personal information, including your weekly availability, training frequency and location, age, sex, height, weight, and body fat percentage.
